Formation and Background
Snow Strippers are an American electronic music duo consisting of Tatiana Schwaninger and Graham Perez. The pair met in Florida in 2018 and later moved to Detroit, where they began developing their musical project in late 2021. Tatiana became the vocalist and performer, while Graham took responsibility for production. Before Snow Strippers, Graham had already been active as a producer, while Tatiana had no previous experience making music.
Early Musical Journey
The duo began releasing music independently through their own label, Nice Bass Bro. Their first single, “Keep Holding On,” arrived in 2021 and introduced their unusual combination of electronic production, distorted vocals, heavy rhythms, and nostalgic club influences. Their early releases quickly attracted attention online and helped them become associated with the revival of the 2000s and 2010s-inspired indie sleaze aesthetic.
Debut Album and Mixtapes
In 2022, Snow Strippers released their self-titled debut album, The Snow Strippers, collecting many of their early songs into a full-length project. They also released April Mixtape in April 2022 and April Mixtape 2 later that year. These projects helped establish their energetic and unconventional sound while building a growing audience within the underground electronic scene.
Musical Style
Snow Strippers’ music combines electropop, EDM, electroclash, witch house, trance, hardstyle, and club-oriented sounds. Their tracks are often characterized by intense electronic production, distorted or heavily processed vocals, pounding bass, atmospheric melodies, and a deliberately raw aesthetic. Their sound draws inspiration from earlier internet and club music while incorporating modern hyperpop and underground electronic influences.
Growing Recognition
As their independent releases gained momentum, Snow Strippers developed a strong online following and began performing live to increasingly larger audiences. Their distinctive combination of music, fashion, visuals, and DIY creativity helped them stand apart from more conventional electronic acts. Their shows also became meeting points for different parts of the contemporary underground music scene.
Surf Gang and Mad Decent
In 2023, Snow Strippers expanded their reach by signing with Surf Gang Records and Mad Decent. That year they released April Mixtape 3, continuing the sound and creative direction established through their earlier projects. Their growing relationship with other influential artists and producers helped introduce their music to a wider audience.
Collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert
One of the duo’s major steps toward mainstream recognition came through collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert. Snow Strippers appeared on Uzi’s track “Fire Alarm” from the album Pink Tape, while Uzi also appeared on their song “It’s a Dream.” These collaborations exposed their sound to a much larger audience beyond the underground electronic community.
Night Killaz Era
Snow Strippers continued their rapid release schedule with Night Killaz Vol. 1 in November 2023 and Night Killaz Vol. 2 in May 2024. These projects further developed their dark, energetic, club-focused sound and strengthened their reputation for creating music that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.
“Under Your Spell” and Wider Popularity
The duo’s music continued reaching new listeners, with “Under Your Spell” becoming one of their most recognizable songs. Their growing popularity demonstrated how their combination of underground electronic influences, memorable hooks, distinctive production, and striking visual identity could connect with audiences far beyond their original scene.
Live Performances
Snow Strippers have become known for energetic live performances that combine electronic production with Tatiana’s distinctive stage presence. Their shows have attracted dedicated audiences across North America and Europe, with sold-out performances helping establish them as an important act within the modern alternative electronic scene.
Creative Identity
A major part of Snow Strippers’ appeal comes from their hands-on approach to their artistic identity. The duo has maintained significant control over their music, visuals, creative direction, and merchandise, while also operating their own Nice Bass Bro imprint. This DIY approach has helped them maintain a recognizable aesthetic across their music and broader creative work.
Snow Strippers Today
Since forming in 2021, Snow Strippers have developed from a small independent project into a widely recognized electronic duo. Their ability to combine nostalgic club culture with contemporary underground sounds has given them a distinctive position in modern electronic music. With Tatiana Schwaninger’s vocals and Graham Perez’s production working together, the duo continues to expand its audience through recordings, collaborations, live performances, and a strong visual identity.
